Adventures in Money Making Gets Nimble

Adventures in Money Making

As part of my research for understanding how to make Search-Engine-Optimized websites and generate some side income, I subscribe to a service that provides me with the most searched for keywords. As usual “Paris Hilton” is near the top along with other porn/movie stars and “Money”, “Investing” and “Saving for Retirement” are nowhere on the list.

It got me wondering where does Paris invest her money? A search didn’t reveal anything on this topic, but I found out that if you’re interested in opening a franchise for a Club Paris, all you need to do is send out an email!

While on the search page, I saw an adsense ad for a book on amazon called “Why Paris Hilton is a Fool” and it led me to an e-book sold my Nimble Books. The owner/author sells ebooks as his main source of income and is generating about 15k/yr. Not enough to live off of, but nothing to sneeze at either!!! He also recommended this site Make Easy Money with Google and Adsense which is a pretty good site for making easy money with and adsense.[yeah, that was pretty redudant.]

And the circular world of AdSense goes on! One little secret: lifetime sales of PARIS HILTON IS A FOOL are about $20.00. (It was a worthy, but failed, experiment with the $1.99/10 pages price point for e-books.)

Dan Brown talks to The Book Standard! Now, how about me?

Just Re-Read ‘The Da Vinci Code’: Dan Brown’s Follow-Up Novel Delayed a Year
It’s official: ’s millions of fans around the world will have to wait for the mega-seller’s much-anticipated follow-up to The Da Vinci Code. The author’s publishers said today that Brown’s next novel will not arrive in stores until at least 2007, more than a year later than originally planned.

Brown himself, in an e-mail sent to The Book Standard, says: “My books are time-consuming to research and complicated to construct. I am taking the time necessary to ensure that this new book is every bit as entertaining as The Da Vinci Code.”

Ok, key question, Dan: why single out The Book Standard? Why not Publishers Weekly, or the New York Times? Is Random House buying VNU? Indeed, why not give the little guy a break and write me or Greg Taylor at The Daily Grail?

Seriously, to The Book Standard for this excellent bit of reporting, one of the first bits of actual news on the front in quite a while.

Google “Themed” Search

According to Google, these “themed” search results should evolve over time to reflect the content of this site and the interests of visitors.

After using for a while, I conclude this feature is somewhat useless without the option to make the “delta” visible, i.e. what’s different between the themed results and the standard results.

Reuters on THE SOLOMON KEY AND BEYOND

Entertainment News Article | Reuters.co.uk

LONDON (Reuters) - ’s follow-up novel to his global bestseller “The Da Vinci Code” won’t be ready by the end of the year as originally expected, his publisher said on Friday.

“We don’t know when it’s coming, but it’s out of the schedule for this year,” said Larry Finlay, managing director for Transworld Publishers in London, a division of Bertelsmann-owned Random House.

“At one point we were hoping for it around October or November, but now it’s looking like 2007,” he told Reuters, confirming a report in the Bookseller trade publication.

The book, whose title and plot are as secretly guarded as the religious sects Brown writes about, remains unfinished, with Brown having been embroiled in a high-profile plagiarism lawsuit and the publicity surrounding an upcoming film adaptation of “The Da Vinci Code” starring Tom Hanks.

Neither Brown nor his agent in New York could immediately be reached to comment on reasons for the new book’s delay.

The working title on the novel had been “The Solomon Key” though it was reportedly dropped.

Speculative books such as “Secrets of the Widow’s Son” and The Solomon Key and Beyond” [Nimble Books] , as well as fan Web sites, have been trying to crack the plot, which Brown himself has hinted will deal with the ancient society of Masons.

fans, looks like 2007 or later…

Firstfruits explained

Today’s Bible verse of the day:

1 Corinthians 15:20-22

“ But Christ has indeed been raised from the dead, the firstfruits of those who have fallen asleep. For since death came through a man, the resurrection of the dead comes also through a man. For as in Adam all die, so in Christ all will be made alive.”

I decided to look up firstfruits.

Ex 22.29

You shall not delay to offer the first of your ripe produce and your juices. The firstborn of your sons you shall give to Me.

Time for a trip to The Produce Station!

Abrams to direct Star Trek 11

Variety.com - Trekkies have a new leader

Paramount is breathing life into its “Star Trek” franchise by setting “Mission: Impossible III” helmer J.J. Abrams to produce and direct the 11th “Trek” feature, aiming for a 2008 release.

Damon Lindelof and Bryan Burk, Abrams’ producing team from “Lost,” also will produce the yet-to-be-titled feature.

Project, to be penned by Abrams and “MI3″ scribes Alex Kurtzman and Roberto OrciRoberto Orci, will center on the early days of seminal “Trek” characters James T. Kirk and Mr. Spock, including their first meeting at Starfleet Academy and first outer space mission.

This is probably good news…
