‘LA Times’ Committed to Books, But… - 3/2/2007 - Publishers Weekly
At last night’s reception in New York City to announce the nominees for the 2006 Los Angeles Times Book Awards, two executives downplayed reports that the paper is planning to scale back its book coverage. Both LAT editor James O’Shea and book editor David Ulin said the paper is committed to providing extensive book coverage, including reviews. But while O’Shea said he had rejected a suggestion from his predecessor that he kill the Sunday book review, he hinted that it may not remain a stand-alone section.
Good. The LATBR has always looked stupid as a standalone section.
