At the Center of the Storm: My Years at the CIA by George Tenet

wfzimmerman's review: "I came away with mixed feelings about Tenet. On the one hand, he stayed at CIA for seven years when there had been five directors in the previous seven years, which is admirable. On the other hand, there are many moments where you wonder why he just didn't get it. Forex, he begins the book with an anecdote about Richard Perle telling him on September 12, 2001 that Iraq had to be held accountable. Tenet had already seen the passenger manifests and knew better -- but he said nothing. Ok -- I might have done the same thing in his shoes -- but what amazes me is that Tenet doesn't question himself now-- obviouisly, it would have been a lot better if he had quashed Perle immediately. That never seems to occur to Tenet."
