Accounting Issues in Overseas Markets

Authors will note that some of their sales come from the UK market.  The conversion rate is calculated as of the date the end of the accounting month in which they were accrued (i.e. the last business Friday of the month for which the sales statement is labeled, i.e. January 30, 2009, for sales in January 2009).

A convenient tool for this (and the one that I use) is XE.com.

Although our distributor has reporting channels for Canada and Europe,  their distribution networks there are limited, and there have been no reported sales there so far. This does not mean that we are not selling any books in those markets — instead, the sales are being reported in the US and UK channels, as  overseas booksellers are (apparently) ordering through US/UK distribution subsidiaries. You can verify this by going to http://www.salesrankexpress.com and selecting one of the “international” Amazon  stores other than UK, then doing a search on Publisher = [Nimble Books].
