Good wrap-up to a looong, meandering series that I first began reading in 1970 (!) The fourteen (!!) books in the series could have been one of the best series in science fiction if they had been written as a 5 or 6 book series. Foster is a good story teller and the early books in this series are still great reading. This one is worth reading to wrap things up, but you can probably skip over most of books 4-13 and go straight here.

As a nit, the cover portrait of Flinx is not nearly as appealing as the classic Del Rey cover art of him as a gawky red-haired teen. He looks like he's gotten a muscle makeover.
