I use the online web service Elance to manage free-lance projects, so before you write me, register there as a provider.   Once you’re registered with Elance, you should  let me know your Elance username via the Contact form on this website so that I can include you automatically on RFPs.   You can  search Elance to see if  I have any open jobs; my handle there is “wfzimmerman”.

The jobs available usually fall into the following categories:

• Word Processors will be attaching the proper Word 2007 styles to paragraphs in author’s raw text.
• Editorial Assistants will be responsible for ensuring that Nimble books are consistent with the Chicago Manual of Style, 15th edition and the Nimble Books Style Guide.  You will be doing light copy-editing to set the stage for me, the “senior’ or “executive” editor.
• Layout Assistants will be inserting images into Microsoft Word manuscripts that have received their final copy-edit and doing final pagination.
• Web Developers are needed for BookKismet.net, a platform-independent metadatabase connecting books, discussions, recommenders from Amazon, Google Book Search, LibraryThing, and more …  ”the fate of books is in your hands” -

Thee following continuing opportunities won’t be listed on Elance (and Elance membership is not required), but I strongly ehcourage you to make contact with me if you are interested.

• Authors are wanted to write books described in the Idea Pad, and, of course, your own ideas are always welcome.
• Series Editors will be responsible for identifying, acquiring, and editing several books each year related to your area of interest (or, if you will, obsession).  You will receive a stake in the profits of the books you acquire.This is a great way to network with your colleagues, bring important ideas into print, and influence your field.  You must be well-credentialed, well-connected, and energetic.
